20, 000 Leagues Under The Sea

Sorry to keep going ON AND ON about Montreal… BUT I’m gonna keep going on about it. It was an exciting month for me, ok? Anyhow, I read 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea over the course of the month aaaaaaand…

I made a new book cover!

I still don't think I have the colours quite right. I've done about a dozen colour variations, haha so I closed my eyes and picked this one.

Very interesting book… It was quite good, but quite, well, odd… in a lot of ways. It brings up something I wonder about a lot while reading:

When there’s something like racism, nationalism, or general jerkery coming from the characters, is it the author really getting into the character’s head OR is it the author projecting their own personal opinions and biases onto the character?

To be honest I wonder this most often about Kipling. But I’m actually looking into the history of British rule in India to solve that one.

Anyway, it definitely makes me want to read more Jules Verne. And either way, 20, 000 Leagues is one HELL of a turn-of-the-century sci-fi adventure. Hope you like the cover…
