A New Era in T-Shirt Printing!

Oh, hello again. I spent most of today printing a bunch of shirts I had hanging around…

The first one I did was this Triceratops.

Triceratops

Pretty standard stuff, I’ve done shirts like this about a dozen times. The image is a lino block (like the Dracula illustration) with fabric ink on it. This one I had to print four times to get it the right colour.

But THEN I tried something different…

Death Pose copy

I used a stencil instead and rolled over it with the fabric ink until I got this little death pose dino. What? A breakthrough?! HA! Here’s the next one through all of it’s stages…

The base layer (takes a crapload of ink)…

Neeeeeext…

Toast Halfway

And last I buttered the toast.

Oh man! A new era in homemade t-shirts?! I think so! How about another?

Eggs copy

I should probably mention that silk screening is juuuust outside of my attention span, so yes, this is quite the breakthrough. And you might recognize these stencils from an image in the Everything Else section of the main site. That was my first experiment in using stencils (which I thought was pretty successful), but was enough to make me want to try it again. Oooh boy do they have potential…
